Keeping Your Image Fresh Through Rebranding

Advertising // Business // Marketing

rebrandingBrand images are an integral part of a business’ identity and often reflect the very essence of what the company stands for – so changing things up is something that isn’t taken lightly. However, a re-brand can be a useful tool in keeping a brand in the spotlight and changing people’s view of a business.  Even mega successful well-known brands need to freshen up their image from time to time. It gives the brand a chance to re-invent itself and refocus their goals and image.

microsoft's new and old logo

Microsoft recently updated their look to a more modern simple design. They redesigned their logo to include a 4-color block symbol reminiscent of their famous Windows logo, in which the different colored squares are intended to express the company’s diverse portfolio of products. The brand overhaul gives them a sleek new look that is represented in all their branding from logo and website to their new Microsoft Stores and advertising.

Redesigning your corporate image can breathe new life into your existing business simply by changing the way people perceive your brand. It helps you stay relevant in a fast moving world. A change could be just the thing to get people to do a double take and spark interest in a brand that people may have forgotten about.

Businesses can grow in different directions as they develop over time. Maybe your company has developed new products or has decided to focus on a wider target audience than when the company started. Redesigning your brand can give your business a chance to target a new audience and change consumer perception.

Why I Let A 23-Year-Old Run My (and my clients’) Social Media

Business // Social Media

Inc. Magazine got plenty of miles from their article warning not to let a 23-year-old run your social media. See full article here.

Too bad it’s terrible advice. Besides 11 of the stupidest reasons (i.e. You Can’t Control Their Friends) I’ve ever seen, the article is based on faulty logic. Follow author Hollis Thomases’ thinking and you’d skip over the next Mark Zuckerberg (who founded Facebook at 20) or Steve Jobs (who founded Apple at 21).
Okay, Zuckerbergs and Jobs don’t come around every day, but smart, bright and motivated young marketers do. Give them guidance and a little bit of loose reins and you may open up a valuable new communications channel.

Social media marketing is fresh and constantly re-freshing with updates and new social networks frequently popping up. The truth is, it’s a new and evolving sector within the industry. Is your 35-year-old direct marketer better equipped to manage Twitter?  How about your 43-year-old sales manager? After all she has 300 Facebook Friends and organized her 25th HS reunion.

You need someone with an overall understanding of marketing and advertising and an enhanced ability to interact with people on their terms.

Your new media manager should think outside the box with an open mind. They should be encouraged to try new things. They should be forcing you to push the envelope.

Obviously, you don’t hand over the keys to your social media kingdom, without some form of supervision. You don’t give an intern carte blanche and never look over his/her shoulder. Your new media manager should be a part of your marketing team. If you want a successful new media manager for your business you will need to search for the right candidate, not just hire someone because they are young and know how to Instagram. Potential candidates will be young. They should be driven to succeed, which will bring you success. Still scared? Give your candidates a test.

Ask each candidate to compare the online presence of two other companies (competitors of each other). That’s it; leave the rest up to them. The smart candidate will design a presentation to showcase their evaluation. A good evaluation will include all online media: social media, website, blog, search results, etc.

Don’t confuse age with ability. Who handles your computer networking? Who handles your programming and your web site? Odds are 20-somethings are doing most of the work. Now ask yourself, which of these young people have more destructive capabilities between their fingertips and keyboards? The tech who connects you to the web, or the young lady “who knows how to Instagram?”

We handle social media campaigns for many of our clients and it is actually managed by a 23-year old! He works with our account managers, creative director and copywriter to offer a coordinated marketing program.

Sometimes it is not cost effective to bring someone on full or even part time just to handle your new media campaigns. Consider hiring an agency with new media services. Contact NetWave Interactive for a consultation.

Generating Ongoing Revenue Through Smart Promotions

Business // Marketing

Are your promotions helping you find the right audience?

Attracting new customers is key to business growth. One of the most common methods to attract people to your company is through some kind of sale or promotion.

Sales and promotions can be very successful in boosting revenue – but does that mean long-term growth? Not necessarily.

In order to grow your business you should know your audience and their needs. You want to have your target audience in mind for every business decision you make.

Take bar promotions for example. If you run a killer deal once a week and it attracts a huge crowd, will those people be there when the deal is over? Some people will simply go to a bar that features a deal that night rather than return to you. This means you only boosted your business once and depending on the deal you may not have even gained any profit from it.

The same goes for just about every other type of promotion, from retail coupons and sales to hotel deals and restaurant discounts.

Technology is making it even easier for deal seekers to find and follow the best promotions. Websites like Groupon and Living Social can attract new customers willing to try your business. While these sites give people the latest promotions they may motivate them even further towards deal trailing.

Keeping your target audience in mind can lead to smarter, more effective promotions. Offer something that can highlight your business as being better than the rest. Leave your customers wanting more. If you present them with a unique experience they will be more inclined to come back to you rather than move on to the next company with a flashy deal.

Here at Netwave Interactive, we offer expert marketing consulting to help you ensure your company is making the most out of your promotions and effectively reaching the right audience. Our dedicated account team takes the time to get to know you and your business, offering advice that is specially designed for your business.

Reach Brand Mastery Through Consistency

Business // Marketing

Two simple words can improve the overall effectiveness of your brand – STAY CONSISTENT.Full Marketing Packages ensure consistent branding.

Branding has a much stronger impact when there is an overarching theme that guides everything your company produces. This provides people with a familiar look and feel that, in time, leads to better brand recognition.

Think of some of the big brands out there.

Coca-Cola. McDonald’s. Pepsi. Ford. Nike.

They’ve all been around a long time. Yet their brand images have remained relatively the same throughout the history of each company.

It is crucial for companies to make their brand recognizable on everything tied to their name.

As consumers we can quickly recall the brands that have done a good job of incorporating their logo and brand image in everything they do. Once your brand is strong enough, simply adding your symbol or tag line is all that is needed to know it’s from your company. Think the Nike swoosh or the McDonald’s golden arches.

If you don’t think this is true, try one of the growing number of quiz games based around guessing which logo and taglines go with what brand.

These brands are doing a great job of using their branding logo, message, and theme with all their marketing – and it pays off. In highly competitive markets, brand recognition can be the key factor in your brand being chosen over your competitors.

These companies started out the same as every other company. Yet through strong and consistent messaging they have achieved instant recognition – and so can you.

Here at Netwave Interactive we believe in the power of strong branding. We can provide your company with a full branding package and use the same brand image in all of your ads, marketing collateral, social media and more. Contact us today and unlock your company’s true brand potential and join the elite list of instantly recognizable brands.

Top 5 Reasons Your Business Should Be Vlogging

Blogging // Business // Marketing

Businesses big and small are using vlogs as another way of reaching their target audience – and for good reason. A vlog, or video blog, is simply a blog in video format.Vlog

Thanks to the rise of sites like YouTube, video has become the new go to source for finding information.

Vlogging is a cost effective way of reaching your target audience in a personal, engaging and interactive way.

Both blogs and vlogs can be very powerful marketing tools. However, video blogs expand upon the benefits of typical blogs in a number of ways.

So if you’re on the fence about starting one, here are the top 5 reasons why your business should be vlogging:

1. Easy To Do

You don’t need to be a video expert to start a vlog.

Since more people are creating their own online videos, production quality standards have dropped significantly. People don’t need to see movie quality video to get to know you and your business on a personal level. It doesn’t have to be a big production either. Video blogs focus more on content then production complexity.

If you have something worthwhile to say, simply pick up a camera and start shooting. All you really need is a camera with video capabilities and a computer to get started. Check out some examples on our YouTube channel. User-friendly websites like YouTube and Vimeo allow you to upload videos easily. Once uploaded, they can be easily embedded onto your website.

2. Adds a Personal Touch

With video you can reach your customers on a more intimate level. It adds a face and voice for people to identify with.

You can send out your brand message in an informal way. Unlike commercials, people seek out video blogs because they feel they are less intrusive.

Providing quality and informative content is a great way to build brand loyalty. People are more likely to come back to you if they feel you present worthwhile content. This builds a positive relationship with current and potential customers.

3. Show Off Your Expertise

Vlogs are a great way to establish yourself as an expert in your field. They allow you to share your knowledge with the public. You can give insider tips, how-tos or simply share more information about what it is that you do.

People respond to businesses they know more about. Show your audience you know what you’re talking about. Build their trust by providing valuable information. Let them know more about your business and products. They will be more inclined to do business with you.

4. Reach a Wider Audience

Did you know that YouTube is the #2 search engine in the world?

More people are using YouTube and other video sites, like Vimeo and Dailymotion, to search for information and products more than ever. Having your vlogs available on these sites make your content available to a wider audience.

By creating a video blog, you are increasing your online presence. Posting videos on other sites, as well as your own, can increase the number of people finding your business. The more content you add to your vlog the more your visibility will increase.

5. Unlimited Sharing

Social networks make it very easy for people to share your videos. This sharing capability gives your vlog the potential to reach audiences exponentially.

Have fun! The more entertaining and helpful you make your vlogs the better chance your audience will want to share it with others. Take the time to create engaging content and you could see your vlog go viral.

Every business, whether large or small, can benefit from starting a vlog. For more information on vlogs and how they can help your business contact Netwave Interactive Marketing. We can help you get started today!
